For a day of relaxation, choose between a calm beach on the western side and the eastern side´s large waves, or plan to shop, play golf or go deep-sea fishing.

Shopping

Gorlero Avenue, a 10-minute walk from the pier, comprises the major shopping area with shops offering leather goods, semi-precious jewelry with agates and amethysts, and knitwear.

Currency

The Uruguayan Peso ($U) is the official currency in Uruguay. US dollars are occasionally accepted. The airport's taxi cabs accept US dollars and the Hotel check-out requires US dollars. However, you will need Uruguayan Pesos for small expenses.
